The Penn State Nittany Lions are looking for a two-for deal after the football program's recent offers to a pair of teammates from the Ohio area.
Two junior prospects from Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier were at Penn State over the weekend and both walked away with offers. Class of 2017 quarterback Sean Clifford worked out for the staff on Friday evening at camp, while classmate and offensive lineman Matt Bockhorst visited with the staff. Each tweeted their new offers on Saturday morning.
The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Clifford was one of the top passers in the session on Friday evening and got plenty of attention from head coach James Franklin and quarterbacks coach Ricky Rahne. He previously held offers from Boston College, Kentucky, Louisville, Northwestern, Pitt and West Virginia, among others.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Bockhorst is an early high three-star prospect according to 247Sports. He has scholarship offers from Boston College, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan State, Northwestern and Vanderbilt, among others.
Penn State assistant coach Herb Hand is in charge of recruiting in the Cincinnati area.
