There are very few guarantees in the game of football, but when it comes to the Penn State Nittany Lions' road game against the Northwestern Wildcats this week, we've found an exception to the rule. Here's 3 Reasons Why Penn State Is GUARANTEED To Beat Northwestern.
3) Christian Hackenberg's talent
Hackenberg is the man behind Penn State's recent surge, throwing for 12 touchdowns and zero picks since September 26th's 37-21 win over San Diego State. The offensive line has started to gel in front of him, and Hackenberg is rewarding them with the best football we've seen from a PSU QB in years. Northwestern can't contend with that.
2) Northwestern is paper thin
The Wildcats started to get national recognition after a 5-0 start in 2015, but back-to-back blowout losses to Michigan and Iowa stopped all that. They barely beat a scuffling Nebraska team last week, but don't mistake that for the Wildcats righting the ship. Things will get back to the way there were the two weeks prior when Penn State comes into Evanston.
1) Dominant defense
Penn State finished 29th in total defense (353.42 ypg) last year, but the true measure of their success was the fact that they tightened up even more with their backs against the wall, giving up just 18.6 points a game (7th in the nation). They've built on that success this year as they rank 13th in the country in total defense. Northwestern's offense doesn't have the talent to hang with PSU's swarming D.
