STOCKTON — Two words can sum up the Pacific baseball team’s lopsided loss to LMU on Thursday night:
Growing pains.
As the Lions trounced the Tigers 13-4 in a West Coast Conference game at Klein Family Field, it was proof that a young Pacific team’s rise is not linear. And that’s despite outslugging San Diego 9-7 for its first conference win last weekend and gaining much needed confidence.
The Tigers have 21 underclassmen (freshmen or sophomores) on their roster, including 11 freshmen, 10 of whom are true freshmen.
Not to mention, redshirt sophomore and front line starting pitcher Shelby Lackey was touched up for eight runs (five earned) on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
