The Pacific women’s basketball team opened their season Sunday with a statement.
Ameela Li and Brooklyn McDavid both had career highs in scoring and Valerie Higgins recorded a double-double to lead the Tigers to an 83-80 win over the defending Big West Champion Aggies at UC Davis.
Pacific was scheduled to host its first game of the season Nov. 8 against William Jessup, but the game was cancelled following the death of William Jessup men’s basketball player Kevin McLemore.
On Sunday, Li finished with 27 points and seven assists for Pacific, with McDavid recording 24. Higgins had 13 points and 10 rebounds in her first game for the Tigers, who held a 19-point with less than four-minutes to play and managed to survive an 18-2 UC Davis run to hold on.
