LAS VEGAS — Ray Bowles scored a career-high 26 points and the Pacific men's basketball team withstood a career-high 41 points from Pepperdine's Lamond Murray Jr. for an 89-84 win Friday in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament.
Pacific advanced to play WCC top seed and No. 4-ranked Gonzaga in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. today.
"We just played from start to finish. One of our problems this year has been we've always started off a little slow," Pacific coach Damon Stoudamire said. "We were able to get a better start than we're used to.
