Marissa Young started in the circle for the Tigers and Utah State quickly threatened in the first as Amee Aarhus reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second, giving the Aggies a runner in scoring position with just one out. Young was able to get Brina Buttacavoli to fly out to centerfielder Hailey Reed and Jazmine Clarke to ground out to Molly Bourne at second to end the inning.
Rachel Sellers picked up where she left off last season by leading off the second inning with a double to right-center, extending the junior's non-conference hit streak to seven games.
