The Pacific men's basketball team travelled 3,000 miles to play UMass, and was welcomed with a barrage of 3-pointers.
UMass routed Pacific 72-48 behind 14 treys, in both teams' opener of the fifth annual Gotham Classic on Thursday inside the Mullins Center in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Donte Clark paced the Minutemen (6-2) with a game-high 12 points, while Ray Bowles and Jack Williams delivered a team-high 11 points each for the Tigers (3-5). UMass shot 39 percent from beyond the arc, better than Pacific (31.5 percent) shot from the field.
The Tigers struggled in the second half, connecting on just six of their final 28 field goal attempts.
