SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The Pacific beach volleyball team defeated Portland, 3-2, to advance in the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Friday morning at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica.
The Tigers, the four seed, will take on top seed Pepperdine at 12 p.m. Friday in the double-elimination tournament.
The winner of the Pacific-Pepperdine game is in the driver's seat at 2-0, and would need to post two more wins for the WCC title. But the loser of the contest must go through the back-end of the bracket, starting with Friday's 4:30 p.m. match, and win four more times in order to capture the WCC crown.
