STOCKTON — Brian Kolze doesn’t believe in a soft opening.
The Pacific softball team will open the 2018 season today at the highly competitive Grand Canyon Kickoff Tournament, which includes four teams which either won or were runner-ups in their conferences last year and No. 1 Oklahoma, which plays the Tigers at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Pacific begins the tournament in Phoenix at 8:30 a.m. today against Weber State.
Kolze, entering his 26th season as Pacific’s coach, said he likes to play a tough schedule for a couple of reasons.
“These are the type of games where you will learn a lot about yourself as a team, and players love going against top programs and seeing how they fare.
