Tigers limit Broncos to 6 points in 3rd quarter of WCC win

STOCKTON — The storyline to watch stood out in big, bold letters.

The most prolific offensive team in the West Coast Conference (Pacific women’s basketball) was hosting the stingiest defensive team in the WCC (Santa Clara).

Only, the Tigers flipped the script, holding the Broncos to six points in the third quarter en route to a 55-37 rout Thursday night at Spanos Center.

That third quarter was Pacific’s best defensive period of the season, statistically speaking, as the Tigers wore down the Broncos mentally and physically.

“This is huge,” Pacific guard Ameela Li said. “To be able to hold them to six points in one quarter is pretty hard in Division I basketball.
