IRVINE, Calif. - An overtime surge by the No. 8 Pacific women's water polo team drove the Tigers to victory in their Sunday morning contest against UC Irvine. A late-game goal from Mariana Duarte and Kyra Christmas sealed the deal for the Orange Black as Pacific clinched a double-overtime victory against the Anteaters, 12-11.
The Tigers' win places them with an overall record of 7-4, taking seventh place in this weekend's Barbara Kalbus Invite. The Anteaters drop to 4-8 on the season.
Clinging on to an 8-7 advantage heading into the 4th period, the Orange and Black would go on to score two more goals but could not hold off the Anteaters as UC Irvine scored with :29 left to go to send the game into overtime.
