Tigers' hard play doesn't bring enough points

STOCKTON - Playing hard has not only been the cornerstone of first-year Pacific coach Damon Stoudamire's strategy, but the expectation.

Nonetheless, the Tigers dropped their West Coast Conference contest Saturday to visiting BYU, 62-47, in front of a Spanos Center crowd of 4,311 heavily represented by the Cougars' fan base.

The Tigers (8-13, 2-6 WCC) survived a first-half scoring drought that lasted six and a half minutes, but after tying the game at 17-17, the Cougars (15-6, 6-2) went on an 11-0 run and never trailed again.

"The thing about it is we competed hard for 40 minutes, we just couldn't make enough shots," said Stoudamire, of his team's lowest output of the season.
