Tigers don’t go down without a fight

STOCKTON — The end of Game 2 was the type of soul-crushing moment that takes wannabe cohesive teams and exposes them.

After the University of the Pacific volleyball team rallied to force game points at 27-26 and 28-27, San Diego reeled off three consecutive points to take a 2-0 lead overall in their West Coast Conference match on Thursday night.

As soon as Game 3 began, however, the Tigers showed what they’re made of.

Pacific did fall to San Diego in five games at Spanos Center — 25-21, 30-28, 21-25, 21-25, 15-5 — but improbably pushed the Toreros to the brink after a frustrating beginning.
