STOCKTON – After being on the brink of celebrating a series-opening victory against Saint Mary’s at Klein Family Field on Friday, the Pacific baseball team had to put that party in the deep freeze when it suddenly blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning and lost.
Saint Mary’s rallied for three runs in the ninth inning and claimed a 4-3 victory over the Tigers in West Coast Conference action. The teams play again today at 6 p.m. and finish their series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Pacific (5-11 WCC, 14-22 overall) received an outstanding eight innings from the mound by Linden product Shelby Lackey, who struck out seven while allowing one run on four hits.
