PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of the Pacific baseball team defeated the University of Portland Pilots, 14-7, on Saturday night.
The Tigers improve to 17-24 overall and 8-12 in conference, while the Pilots fall to 16-26 overall and 8-12 in conference play.
After four scoreless innings, Carter Hayes led off the top of the fifth with his first career home run to left center to score the first run of the game and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead and set the pace for the rest of the game.
Kevin Sandri stepped up with one out and singled to center field and advanced to second on a balk by the Pilot pitcher.
