STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's beach volleyball team put forth a stellar effort against Portland to open the WCC Mid-Season Invitational on Friday afternoon in Santa Cruz, Calif., but fell to the Pilots, 3-2.
In their second match of the day, the Tigers fell to No. 13 Loyola Marymount, 5-0.
Alex Holt and Gabby Leo, playing as the Tigers' top flight, proved to be a successful pairing, defeating Portland's Shayla Hoeft and Morgan Robinson by scores of 21-18 and 21-12. Also claiming a victory in Pacific's first match of the day were Lauren Cline and Allison Dennemann, who won in three-sets (21-19 18-21, 15-11) against the Pilots' Reghan Pukis and Emma Scanlan.
