STOCKTON - Former Pacific men's basketball coach Bob Thomason wasn't mic-side with broadcaster Zach Bayrouty on Tuesday at Spanos Center for the Tigers' game against Kennesaw State.
Thomason had a great reason for missing the game. He attended a production of "The Pirates of Penzance" in Lafayette to watch his 10-year granddaughter play the lead role.
"It was a fantastic evening," said Thomason, who retired from coaching after 25 years at Pacific following the 2012-13 season. "She did a great job."
Had Thomason been at the game, he likely would have an opportunity to share a handshake and some banter with Kennesaw State head coach Al Skinner, who's in his 24th season overall and his second with the Owls.
