Mathew Phillips’ first multi-point game of his pro career highlighted a big day for the Stockton heat’s offense.
Phillips had a goal and an assist as the heat trounced the Ontario Reign 5-1 on Friday night in front of a crowd of 4,187 at Stockton Arena. Defenseman Oliver Kylington and Alan Quine each had two goals and an assist for the Heat (5-6-1), which begins a three-game road trip on Sunday in Ontario.
Phillips, a rookie forward, earned both his points in the first period as the heat outshot the Reign 18-5. Quine put Stockton ahead 1-0 just 3:21 into the game with a goal on assist from Kylington and Phillips.
