A pair of San Joaquin Athletic Association foes just became future teammates.
Franklin High’s Felipe Figueroa and Bear Creek’s Chaz Davis both committed to play football at UC Davis on Wednesday. Figueroa, a running back, was named an Offensive Player of the Year in the SJAA while Davis, a tight end and wide receiver, was named first team all-league.
For Figueroa, the decision meant making a tough call between two sports he loved. He racked up 1,375 rushing yards and scored 10 touchdowns this past season, but he’s been playing soccer since he was four years old.
