Scrappy Pacific wins fifth in a row

STOCKTON – Katrin Gotterba admitted it had been a tough afternoon. Her hips were sore, her knees were wrapped and she was pretty tired.

But all of her diving on to the hardwood floors at Spanos Center was worth it as University of the Pacific’s volleyball team kept its winning streak going.

The Tigers took control of the match late in the third set and beat Pepperdine 25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-15 on Saturday in Stockton to win their fifth in a row and even their season series with the Waves.

“The biggest thing is that we’re growing as a team,” Pacific head coach Greg Gibbons said.
