STOCKTON – It was a tough day for University of the Pacific’s golf team at its own tournament.
On a day which featured stiff winds in the afternoon and firm greens, the Tigers struggled in the first round of the Visit Stockton/Pacific Invitational on Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. The lone bright spot was the play of freshman Petr Janik, who had one of his better rounds of the season at even-par 72.
But Janik was playing as an individual, and his score didn’t count toward Pacific’s total. The Tigers were in last place after the first round with a 22-over 310.
