STOCKTON — Peyton Rose is happy she added to her statewide lead in victories. But most importantly, she guaranteed the Delta Mustangs will maintain their lead in the Big 8 Conference.
The sophomore pitcher shut out the Modesto Pirates twice by the same score, 5-0, on Saturday at the Bucky Layland Softball Complex. Delta (27-3, 14-1 Big 8 Conference) gained a game on second-place Sierra (25-5, 12-3), which split with Cosumnes River on Saturday.
“We can’t fall out (of first) right now, so this was a good day,” Delta coach Jim Fisher said.
