Paint points hurt Tigers against California

STOCKTON - Within minutes it was obvious 25th-ranked California was going to live in the key while facing the Pacific women’s basketball team Sunday afternoon at the Spanos Center.

And while the Tigers rallied late to make it a five-point game with less than a minute to go, Cal defeated Pacific 92-85 in front of 479 fans. With 60 of Cal’s points coming inside the paint, it’s safe to say the Golden Bears (7-2) likely owned the paint store as well.

Cal’s Kristine Anigwe, a 6-foot-4 junior center, scored a game-high 28 points and had 18 rebounds to lead the way while teammate Penina Davidson added 22 points.
