A no hitter made University of the Pacific ’s Ryan Shreve an easy choice for West Coast Conference player of the week.
Pacific’s junior right-handed pitcher was named the winner of the award on Monday, the day after he tossed his no hitter to beat Santa Clara 1-0 and clinch the series sweep over the Broncos.
Shreve made it into the history books at Pacific with the fourth no-hitter in Pacific baseball history. It was the first no-hitter for the Tigers since D.J. Houlton’s in 2001. on Sunday at Santa Clara.
He faced 28 batters and retired 27 only allowing a runner to reach base with a hit-by-pitch.
