STOCKTON — Valerie Higgins saw Jahlil Tripp’s whopping rebound total earlier this week and laughed as she said she wanted to do the same for the women’s team.
But her totals were no joke as Pacific beat Portland State, 77-70, on Saturday at the Spanos Center.
Two days after Tripp pulled down 20 rebounds at San Francisco, Higgins grabbed 18 rebounds and had six steals in addition to scoring 28 points. After the game, she credited her inspiration.
“I saw it on social media (Thursday) and thought, ‘Oh, man, I gotta top that,’” Higgins said.
