The Pacific women’s basketball team began West Coast Conference play and the new year on a positive note, beating Saint Mary’s 76-67 on Monday night at Spanos Center.
The Tigers (8-3, 1-0 WCC) were glad to be back at home after not playing at their arena since Dec. 8 and took care of the Gaels (7-5, 0-1), who entered the game as the No. 19 team in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25. The Tigers won the rebound and turnover battle while three players finished in double figures.
Sophomores Brooklyn McDavid (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Valerie Higgins (16 points, 12 rebounds) both had double-doubles while senior Ameela Li led her team with 23 points.
