STOCKTON — Kaitlyn Lines could have tensed up, missed her attacks, and hampered the Pacific volleyball team’s chance at a victory on homecoming.
But the sophomore outside hitter welcomes nerve-wracking moments. So Lines hammered home a match-high 21 kills, including the clincher in Game 5, as Pacific survived 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 28-30, 15-8 in a West Coast Conference match against Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon at Spanos Center.
Pacific snapped a four-match losing streak, to the delight of several former players in the crowd including Gillian Howard, Kimmy Whitson and Katrin Gotterba.
The Tigers (7-12, 2-6 WCC) pulled away from the Bulldogs with an 11-4 run to cap Game 5.
