Pacific volleyball swept away by Waves

STOCKTON — Lauren Cline had a career-high eight kills off the bench, but there wasn’t much else for the Pacific women’s volleyball team to celebrate after being swept by Pepperdine on Thursday at Spanos Center.

The Tigers (9-7, 3-1 West Coast Conference) had an opportunity to start 4-0 in WCC play for the first time since re-joining the conference in 2013. But the Waves (7-8, 1-2) had too much prowess at the net and earned their first WCC victory this season 25-16, 25-20, 25-23.

“We lost the serve-pass battle tonight,” Pacific coach Greg Gibbons said. “I didn’t do a good job getting them ready to go tonight.
