Pacific men's soccer (5-2-1) handed the defending National Champion Stanford Cardinal (3-1-3) its first loss in nearly a year on Thursday night in Palo Alto, 1-0. Stanford was on a program-record 21 match win streak entering the evening. It was Pacific's first win against the Cardinal.
"I'm tremendously proud of the team tonight. Obviously, they put in a tremendous amount of work and have learned the lessons of our previous trip here last November," head coach Ryan Jorden said.
Stanford came out strong in the opening 15 minutes and dominated play, but Pacific turned the tide quickly with an opening goal from junior Jonathan Jimenez when sophomore Charles Brewah played a long pass into an attacking position.
