STOCKTON — The University of the Pacific has indefinitely suspended head men’s basketball coach Ron Verlin and assistant men’s basketball coach Dwight Young as it continues a joint investigation with the NCAA into alleged academic misconduct within the athletics department.
The Tigers (1-6) play a non-conference game at 4 p.m. today at Fresno State. Mike Burns, a first-year assistant at Pacific, who previously worked as an assistant at the University of San Diego, will be in the interim head coach. Longtime Tigers assistant coach Calvin Byrd will be the lead assistant coach.
