STOCKTON — In UC Irvine’s last trip to Knoles Field in 2014, the Anteaters were just the second opponent on Pacific’s schedule upon deciding to revive the program after a 29-year absence.
The Tigers were shut out that day, but in Sunday’s non-conference rematch the Tigers posted a 4-2 victory to snap UC Irvine’s three-game winning streak.
Terminating winning streaks is not new to the Tigers this season. On Thursday, the Tigers snapped Stanford’s 21-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory against the defending national champions.
It’s a testament to how far the Tigers’ program has evolved in five seasons, but Pacific coach Ryan Jorden is apprehensive about celebrating the past when the future looks so promising.
