STOCKTON – Saturday’s game was important to University of the Pacific. And on top of everything else, it was fun.

The Tigers cut loose against Portland, playing crisp, up-tempo basketball and trouncing the Pilots 91-55 at Spanos Center. After losing their first four league games, the Tigers have won two in a row and are 8-9 overall, 2-4 in the West Coast Conference.

It was one of those days where just about everything went Pacific’s way, and made for a nice afternoon on its home court.

“It’s definitely a lot of fun to have one of these games, especially in conference,” said junior guard Ameela Li, who led Pacific with 20 points.
