STOCKTON — Saint Mary’s head coach Randy Bennett said he’s never coached in a quadruple overtime game. Pacific players Gary Chivichyan and Jahlil Tripp have never been a part of one either.
Heck, nobody in college basketball this season has played in a four-overtime battle. What occurred well into the Saturday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center was historic and exhilarating.
The Tigers outlasted Saint Mary’s 107-99 in a quadruple-overtime thriller that saw a second-half comeback, a buzzer-beater and numerous chances to win the game fall just short — until Pacific pulled away at the end.
