The Pacific field hockey team pulled off a shocker, edging Michigan State 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday in Lansing, Michigan.
With less than 10 minutes into the first half, Pacific’s Gaby de Kock pushed the ball to Nthabi Maine for the stop to set Kriekie van Wyk up for the goal off the penalty corner to give Pacific a 1-0 lead over the Spartans.
Early into the second half, the Spartans put a quick point on the board off a penalty corner to tie it at 1-1 and sent the game to overtime.
Pacific came out with the victory in double overtime, as Taylor Dempsey crossed a pass in front of the net to hit van Wyk for the winning goal.
