STOCKTON – They almost did it.
The Pacific Tigers showed their skill and their moxie on Saturday as the shorthanded but upset-minded squad came about as close as they could to knocking off the first-place Saint Mary’s Gaels without actually finishing the job. But these Tigers have made it clear that they will not ever be satisfied with almost doing anything.
The Gaels, fresh off a win over No. 13 Gonzaga, preserved their standing on top of the West Coast Conference and increased their winning streak to 14 games with a 72-69 win on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 3,306 at a loud and raucous Spanos Center.
