Pacific drops close contest at home

STOCKTON - The Pacific men’s basketball team entered Saturday night’s game at the Spanos Center with aspirations of securing a much clearer playoff picture. Forty minutes later, the Tigers left empty-handed.

Pacific lost 72-68 to visiting Santa Clara on a night where a Tigers win would have guaranteed a first-round bye at the West Coast Conference Tournament in Las Vegas in two weeks. The loss also meant a split of the season series with the Broncos.

Roberto Gallinat finished the game with a team-leading 24 points, and Miles Reynolds had 16 points. Jahlil Tripp had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Anthony Townes had eight rebounds of his own.
