The Pacific baseball team needed a win Sunday to complete a three-game sweep, and handed the ball to junior Ryan Shreve to try and get the job done.
Shreve’s performance wasn’t exactly how the Tigers drew it up. It was much, much better.
Shreve threw the fourth no-hitter in the history of Pacific baseball, leading the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Santa Clara on the road. Shreve struck out a career-high nine batters in the effort and allowed just a single base runner — a hit batter in the fourth inning.
The win is Pacific’s fourth straight, improving the team’s record to 20-16 overall and 7-8 in the West Coast Conference.
