Notebook: West football coach steps down

After three decades of coaching football, Steve Anastasio needed a break.

Anastasio, the West head coach since 2014 and a 1981 graduate of Tracy High, stepped down as Wolf Pack head coach this offseason. The man who started with West in 1994, as an assistant for coach Steve Lopez, said he's ready to tend to his personal life more often.

"It was basically a decision I had to make to try to organize some things," said Anastasio, who was Kimball's first varsity head coach from 2010 to 2012. "I love the game of football. I don't think I'm done with the game of football.
