The NCAA today released the results of its investigation into the University of Pacific men’s basketball program under former head coach Ron Verlin.
A former Pacific head men’s basketball coach failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance when he violated academic misconduct and recruiting rules to get prospects eligible, according to a Division I Committee on Infractions panel. He also failed to monitor the activities of his coaching staff and violated NCAA ethical conduct rules when he encouraged others to provide false information during the investigation, the NCAA said in a statement.
From the NCAA statement: The scope and nature of the men’s basketball violations demonstrated a failure to monitor, both on the part of the head basketball coach and the institution.
