STOCKTON – Zack Mathis is looking toward the postseason, and now he can see it better than ever.
The Delta College third baseman, fitted with a new pair of glasses, had a big day as the Mustangs trounced Diablo Valley 14-3 on Wednesday in their regular-season home finale at Delta’s Nick Cecchetti Field.
Delta beat the Vikings on Tuesday, and if it finishes the series sweep in Pleasant Hill on Saturday, the Mustangs will clinch the Big 8 Conference crown and the top seed throughout the Northern California Regional playoffs.
The Mustangs (33-6, 18-5) took care of the Vikings (14-24, 8-15) quickly, scoring four times in the bottom of the first inning.
