FRESNO — For the second consecutive day, the Delta College baseball team held a late-inning lead only to see it evaporate.
This time, the Mustangs’ season also slipped away.
The game came apart for the Mustangs in the sixth and seventh innings in an 11-7 loss to Cypress College on Sunday at the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships.
“We got the lead and we couldn’t stop the bleeding,” Delta head coach Reed Peters said. “They kept the pressure on and executed a couple squeezes and got some big hits with guys on base.
