Delta College volleyball coach Molly Mordaunt-Hummel is confident that falling to the defending state champion early in the season will be good for the Mustangs.
That was the only way to look at a 3-1 loss to Fresno City on Wednesday at Marcopulos Gymnasium. After Delta started the season 4-0, the Rams provided Delta with an opportunity to see what they most need to focus on.
Better communication between players — half of them freshmen still getting used to the speed of a higher level — stronger blocking and more disciplined defense top the list.
