Mustangs hold off Sierra at home

STOCKTON - “I told you.”

No one likes to hear it. Delta College men’s basketball players not only heard it from head coach Rich Ressa, they realized it Tuesday night as Sierra rallied to threaten the Mustangs’ lead.

But Delta held off Sierra with a 61-59 victory in Blanchard Gymnasium. The Mustangs, who entered the game second in the Big 8 Conference in free throws made, made six shots from the stripe in the final 26 seconds to preserve the win.

Sophomore guard John Berna said Ressa’s prediction actually worked to help the Mustangs (18-7, 8-6 Big 8) stay calm.
