STOCKTON — Instead of spending its preseason piling up wins against lackluster opponents, the Delta College men’s basketball team has willingly scheduled the state’s elite.
The thought, in the long run, is to be one heck of a tough out come Big 8 Conference play, and potentially playoff time.
The top-ranked team in Northern California, City College of San Francisco, handled the Mustangs 77-65 on the opening night of the 51st annual Delta Holiday Tournament Friday at Blanchard Gymnasium.
“I hope so,” Delta coach Rich Ressa said, on whether the Mustangs can build on being beat by the Rams.
