STOCKTON – Reed Peters had one word to describe what happened Friday at Cecchetti Field.
“Exhausting,” he said. But it’s the kind of exhaustion he and his team can handle if it means winning.
Delta and San Mateo went back and forth for 4 hours, 14 minutes on a crazy, windy afternoon, with the Mustangs eventually punching out a 15-12 win in the first game of the Northern California Super Regional. Delta will try to close out the series at 1 p.m. today.
It took the Mustangs (37-6) six pitchers and 11 hits to pull it off, and they had to withstand rallies of four and six runs by the Bulldogs.
