STOCKTON – The Delta College baseball team didn’t crush the ball or score a lot of runs. But the Mustangs have many ways to win a ball game.
Four pitchers combined to keep Sacramento in line and the Mustangs got a couple of key hits as they beat the Panthers 5-1 on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at Delta’s Nick Cecchetti Field. It was the Big 8 Conference opener for both schools.
Delta (14-1, 1-0) has won its sixth in a row, and it has scored 10 or more runs in eight of its victories. But Delta head coach Reed Peters knew this matchup wasn’t going to be that type of game.
