STOCKTON — The Delta College baseball team quietly went about its postgame chores tending the field, not a smile to be found on any of their faces.
The Mustangs had just lost a game that they had complete control of, and this one hurt.
Delta had a six-run lead after four innings, but the bullpen fell apart in a 13-9 loss in 10 innings to Sacramento City College on Thursday at Nick Cecchetti Field.
The Panthers (28-10, 18-5) clinched at least second place in the Big 8 Conference, while the Mustangs (30-9, 15-8) have to win to improve their playoff position when the teams meet again in the regular season finale at 2:30 p.
