STOCKTON — The Pacific Tigers had plenty of chances to score early in the game against a quality pitcher.

But they couldn’t capitalize, and now they have a lot of work to do.

The Tigers loaded the bases in two of the first three innings and couldn’t come up with the big hit, while Cal Poly took advantage of several Pacific mistakes and won 7-0 on Wednesday in the first round of the National Invitational Softball Championships Regional at Pacific’s Bill Simoni Field.

The Tigers (27-26) still have a shot in the double-elimination regional, but have to start their comeback at 1 p.
