LODI – George Cecchetti does not want bitterness or frustration to have any presence around Zupo Field this summer.
Cecchetti, the former Tokay, Delta College and Cleveland Indians minor league player, is the field manager for the inaugural season of the Lodi Crushers -- a collegiate, summer wood bat team in the Great West League.
Lodi has practiced throughout this week in preparation for its home opener at 7:05 p.m. today against the Sacramento Stealth, including a near three-hour session on Wednesday night. For every botched grounder, misjudged fly ball or errant throw during defensive drills, Cecchetti told the player at fault to relax, regroup and end on a positive note.
