The St. Mary’s boys basketball team would rather be playing at home, but it seems the Rams are just as focused on the road.
St. Mary’s, which was penalized last week for using an ineligible player and forfeited seven games plus its No. 3 seeding in the postseason, advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship game with a 59-44 victory over No. 7 Rio Americano on Wednesday night in Sacramento.
The Rams (17-13) were led by Bryce Johnson, who had a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds, and teammate Jamar Marshall had 20 points.
“We played some of our best defense in this game,” Rams coach Ken Green said.
